TALENTJAM CASE STUDY · GOVERNMENT AGENCY

Designing a workforce for new statutory responsibilities

Organisational Restructure

How a government agency facing new statutory responsibilities modelled and compared workforce structures before committing to change.

THE CHALLENGE

When legislative changes reset this agency's statutory responsibilities, it needed to redesign its organisational structure to deliver new services with existing resources wherever possible.

THE APPROACH

Using TalentJam, the agency mapped every role against recognised frameworks including SFIA, the Data Capability Framework and the Policy Skills Framework. Different organisational structures could then be modelled and compared before any changes were implemented.

THE OUTCOME

Instead of relying on assumptions, leaders could see where existing capability could be redeployed, where genuine skills gaps existed, and which roles required recruitment. At a time when many public sector organisations were reducing headcount, the agency was able to make evidence-based workforce decisions that supported its new responsibilities.
